Beau Daane, M.A., MBA
Director of Sustainable Development
He graduated cum laude from Duke University in 2002 with a dual degree in French and International Relations. During and immediately after Duke, he lived in Mali, Guadeloupe and France for a combined two years. In 2004, Daane earned his master’s in history from Cleveland State, and then became a Coro Fellow at the Cleveland Foundation. From 2007 to 2011, Daane worked as the Business Recycling Specialist for the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District where he helped businesses start and improve waste reduction, recycling and composting programs. He was named a 2010 Entrepreneurs for Sustainability (E4S) Champion of Sustainability. From 2011 to 2013, Daane was the Director of the Fowler Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit at the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, where he helped the Center bridge the gap between scholarship and practice in sustainable value. Daane completed his MBA at Weatherhead in 2012 and his certification in Appreciative Inquiry in 2013. At Fairmount Santrol, Daane helps spread and embed sustainability using Appreciative Inquiry, advancing the work of 13 corporate sustainable development teams and five regional sustainability coordinators. Daane is also responsible for Fairmount Santrol’s annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report (sustainability report), produced according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard. No matter the context, Daane strives to live into his vision of “People, Planet, Prosperity, Passion and Purpose.” A graduate of University School, Daane enjoys gardening, CrossFit, mentoring students, is active in his church where he serves on the Vestry board, and served for ten years on the Western Reserve Land Conservancy board.
