Houston Celebrates Week of Caring

Brittney Hataway, Sustainable Development Coordinator

People, Planet, Prosperity

At Fairmount Santrol, sustainability is not just a check in the box, it’s a way of living. Across our family of approximately 800 members, in 2015 alone, we achieved a record of 1.5 million consecutive safe working hours, planted over 132,000 trees and our foundation contributed more than $2.2 Million back into the communities where we work.

FMSA team members

As part of our commitment to Do Good. Do Well., the Sugar Land Fairmount Santrol Family recently held our region’s annual Week of Caring. The Week of Caring takes place across all FMSA regions throughout the year and provides an opportunity for family members to help out in the communities where they live, work and play. During this week, we spend some time out of the office, immersed in the various initiatives that make our community a little more sustainable.

From beautification to planting trees to highway cleanup, the Sugar Land family volunteered over 175 hours within the week with almost 60% participation. We invite you to learn more about the initiatives we chose:

DePelchin Childrens’ Center
Adopt-a-Highway
Texana
City of Pearland Tree Planting
Lakeview Elementary Garden Cleaning (In fact, we helped start this garden a few years back)
